Currently undergoing major refurbishment, nineteen new pitches, includes twelve service pitches, new road access to provide both ‘IN’ and ‘OUT’ new Bistro & Office plus two new female and male showers in this facility.

The existing block is also being refurbished after ten years. For those that know Knaresborough contacted the Regional Manager, Phil Monkman asking if the Privacy Cubicle next to the existing showers could be converted into a shower cubicle. I feel this could be achieved with minimal of additional finances being involved. No, is the answer, the Clubs ratio of facilities is being met. I think this is a lost opportunity and ever so short sighted as an approach.

There is undoubtedly a change in members ablution habits and whilst useful there is never any pressure on P/Cubicles as opposed to the showers. Also bear in mind that this refurbishment will require to last for the next ten years at the very minimum. This is based on when the last toilet block upgrade took place.

I have also made an approach about incorporating a fenced dog walk down the two side gullies at the site. Based on the need for early and last night pet ablutions.

Again, no, based on the nearby, quarter mile away, Nidd Gorge and the adjacent, Bridleway. For anyone who has been to Knaresborough with a dog in anything other than brilliant unbearable sunshine will know that this Bridleway is the access to a working farm and is for much of the year nothing more than quagmire due to the heavy tankers, tractors and lorries which go up on a daily basis to the farm.

Can I suggest that if any member shares either one or both of these views, please take up with Mr Monkman, Regional Manager, Northern England before any major works get under way and it is possible to incorporate these improvements in the current proposals.

I don’t believe either would require any change to the current planning approval.

PS Site prices on opening in August also appear to have gone up a band!!!
