The list is a very useful facility but as a heavy motorhome owner, I will only use CLs/sites with hardstandings over the winter or during periods of adverse weather.

Would it be possible to add an extra column to the spreadsheet to indicate the number of hadstandings available at each location ?  That would be a really useful addition for units prone to getting bogged down.

    Keep up the good work.

DJBut does sterling work giving us the information. I think asking him to include even more info is a step too far. The info will be on the C.L. own site or even in the S.D. for all but the new ones.

Hot off the press as my new mag arrived only this morning with the inclusion of 7 new CLs with enhanced pitches. Clearly seen as a good idea.

The updated listing (including Uplands CL and Crab Mill Farm which had slipped through the original Sites Directory search) can be downloaded here  (Right click and select 'Open in new tab')

Thanks to 'Wherenext' for the kind compliment.  The additional listing of hardstanding provision, as requested, is outside the topic of the present one. Perhaps a 'heavy motorhome owner' may wish to start one.  Happy hunting.

The new CL Mewstone Meadow does not have an entry in the CAMC website (yet) and the newly listed Blackstock Farm provides a website which sadly makes no mention of CL facilities - but plenty of info if you wish to get married!

    Cheers

DJB, thanks for all your stirling work. There are quite a few CLs that have web sites listed on the club's pages that don't actually mention their CLs but other faculties that they offer such as cottages or food sales.

    Hi folks

The latest Enhanced Pitches CL listing includes just two new ones.  It can be found here (right click and select 'Open in new tab').

It's good to see that Poole Farm has been awarded CL of the Year again. We visited in September 2019 and loved the stay. The complementary fruit cake was a bonus!

Thinking ahead towards Spring?  The Ribble Valley and Bowland is a wonderful part of the North West, with its selection of worthwhile CLs.  There are eight of varying styles not far from the market town of Clitheroe and its Norman keep.

A Happy New Year to everyone interested in Full Service CLs

During the last year the list has been extended by 33 new CLs which offer enhanced pitches.

During December we gained two but lost one (which appears to have become a fully fledged commercial site).

The latest Enhanced CLs listing is here.  (Touch if on a tablet or right click and 'Open link in new tab' if on a PC.)

Notes:  (GTrimmer) - Church Farm Cottages CL appears to have only one enhanced pitch.  (KjellNN) - Crabmill Farm does not have an entry on the CAMC website.

...  or right click and 'Open link in new tab' if on a PC

if you'd used the drop box 'open in new window' when you made the link, you would have been able to make it open in new when the link was clicked.

but there again .... just about every other forum on the net would have automatically made it open in a new window.

    Thanks for the update, DJB.

I've just noticed that Line No.150, CL No.1789  Old Pasture Park at York is now no longer a CL but a 10 pitch commercial site with shepherds huts too.

Thanks to Nellie.  I had put a red line through it on the Sites Update and then did nothing about it !!

    I blame the weather.

when referring to a serviced pitch does this include those with ehu and water? Many CLs are happy for grey water to be piped to the hedge thus making these pitches serviced, at least functionally. I am looking in Northumberland and note there are several of these "enhanced" sites that are missing from the maps.

There are no additions/deletions in the latest mag except that what was Lower Liston Farm, near Shaftsbury, is now called Five Oaks (Sites Guide No. 486).

In response to Scankguy (above) - to be an official grey water disposal point each pitch should have a piped drain but in reality many site owners are happy to allow the water to drain into a nearby hedge. Descriptions in the Handbook and on the web are not precise in this respect - it's certainly a 'grey area'.

Off topic- just scouring the CAMC web I came across the CL at Stourhead, run by the National Trust. Minimal facilities but a charge of £30 per night, minimum two nights. Admittedly this gives free entrance to the gardens but there is no discount for NT members who already have access free of charge. I think I'll give it a miss.

I've just discovered another 'Serviced Pitches' site.

No. 989 (Church Farm Cottages) in the 2021/22 Handbook makes no mention of enhanced facilities but their website does - perhaps a recent addition. It's now on my list.

I saw in a recent club magazine that Fernlea at Errol had closed due to change of owner I think.....is that correct?

David has left, Kjell, but it is still open as a CL, but at £20 pn we won't be visiting it again.

Here is the web site for it if you want the info.

    Ah, right, thanks!

£20 per night is now pretty common it seems, even £25.

Last year we used a serviced one at £22, and have booked a very nice serviced one also £22 for this year due to there being pretty much nothing else in the area.  Still a saving of over £10 on the price of the nearest Club site.

On Page 36 of the April mag, just received, the first listed new CL (Barn View, Tarporley) is shown as having 'enhanced grass pitches (EHU with drinking water)'. I've had an email conversation with the owner and the reality is that each pitch has just EHU. My original belief was that I could add the site to my list of sites with enhanced pitches (as implied on Page 36) but that is sadly not the case.

Just noticed Seat House C.L. in Skipton, North Yorkshire has upgraded their pitches during COVID to enhanced with t.v. aerial etc. Can you add to your next list DJB please.?

    Lower Withacott. North Devon.

We have just booked a nice looking CL for August, with water and electric at each pitch and Wi-Fi. (Grey waste under the hedge).

    4 grass and 1 hardstanding.

It's listed on the club site search facility under Great Torrington, although not in the Site Directory as it opened too late for entry.

Access is good as it's just off the A388 at Stibb Cross.

Thanks to 'Wherenext' for the mention of Seat House. Apart from scrolling through every web page and review it's not easy to spot recent improvements. However, these improvements were first mentioned in a review dated August 2020.

Thanks also to 'obbernockle' for flagging up Lower Withacott.  It too has been added.

    Keep spotting !!

May 2022 update - No new sites posted in the CAMC Mag to add to the existing list.

I have added a column to show which CLs with a website also permit online booking. A number of websites show pitch availability only but do not offer direct booking.

A number of corrections have been made to the existing list as a result of my search for online booking sites. The revised listing is available at:

    I'll second that.

We're fairly new to serviced pitches so a welcome aide memoire for us personally.

Thank you DJB for your excellent resource list, and pleased to see Cholsey Grange listed on it of course!   Some websites that lists CLs also allow you to 'filter' to show sites that have Serviced Pitches as well as availability etc.  You know where to look!

It's a pity the club sites directory and website don't have the filters brought up to date. A pictogram to show fully serviced pitches.on cl's.is much needed now. There looks to be about 69 so if this is a priority it would be difficult to find unless there is a filter

When I look at the pictograms you can filter there is one that makes me scratch my head.

    Dogs Welcome

2140 cl’s take dogs so only about 60 (2.75%) don’t take dogs. So again, another one which will be difficult to find. Because of that you don’t need to be shown which sites take dogs but which ones don't

So two new pictograms, Serviced Pitches and No Dogs are very much needed

I did suggest this in an email some time ago and the reply was, “we will pass this on to the sites team”. I will keep my fingers crossed.
