embarassedMy 2008 Lexon has suffered from 7 separate damp problems since new. Some were repaired under warranty; others by my service agent, some by myself.

The service in September 2016 identified damp around the Truma gas fire ceiling flue inlet. I had already repaired a damp issue within the bathroom ceiling which is approx' 8 inches or so from the gas fire ceiling flue.

I have now stripped  down the cabinet situated above the gas fire. This has enabled me to expose  the flue pipe all the way to where it exits through the caravan ceiling.

I have found the cause of the damp problems to be a missing securing clamp nut. This nut should be situated on the caravan ceiling and tightens onto the flue when inserted down through the caravan ceiling. Rather than fit the correct fitting the chimp who installed the flue inserted a self tapping screw through the flexible gas pipe and into the plastic pipe. This clearly was meant to stabilise the flue pipe in the absence of the correct clamp nut fitting. The absence of this locking nut has enabled the flue vent to move about and thus break any seal present thus allowing water entry.

I have owned the caravan from new. The flue pipe has never had any cause to be exposed  before hence I can confidently state that my caravan left the Lunar factory in this state. Perhaps the same fitter was the person who sabotaged my caravan by fitting both hot and cold pipes immediately behind the cooker in such a way to ensure that the cooker would melt and flood my caravan floor within a week of taking delivery? Or the same person who fitted the gas fire temperature sensor immediately behind the fire thus ensuring that the gas fire/electric heater turned itself off after 10 minutes or so so ensuring that the caravan never became warm.

I could expand on my experience. Suffice to say, a Lunar will not be on my shopping list. Madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome....no thanks. The positive is that whoever becomes the next owner will take possession of a caravan that has been thoroughly sorted.

Rant over.

Good rant but its the same old story, pays your money takes your chance, it should not be like this but in the twenty plus years, four caravans three motorhomes thats exactly how it is. Unfortunately the Caravan Club(s) do not seem able to change it and we the buyers (mugs) keep going back for more. Having said that my last and current Lunar have been good so back to "pays your money takes your chance"

Floor delamination within 12 months of buying my Lunar.  Repair book for early February.  Will give it a chance but I'm pretty sure we won't buy another one.

A dealer once told me the manufacturers base their product on a 2 week usage per year so base their quality processes on that figure, not hard to believe

I am afraid that on your definition of madness buying any UK make will qualify and there are worse than Lunar. Could be a case of out of the frying pan.

These are both examples from a new Swift we bought in 2010.The water pipe was leaking for nearly a year before i eventually found it boarded up behind the bunks. The waste pipe was almost squashed flat behind the sink unit.Quality control................hmmmm.

the van was stolen six months later and we never saw it again.

Problems with sealing leading to damp. Insufficient design clearances leading to clashes, misted windows, roof panel around window becoming bowed, trims falling off. Also, equipment problems.

All caravan manufacturers have a duty to quality assure their equipment /material suppliers, so I hope that there is no confusion over whose fault equipment failures are.
