Until recently I have driven an old style Smax with a van with an MTPLM of 1500kg. We have been so pleased with the power, stability and boot capacity of the Smax as a tow car that we have replaced it with the 2016 150ps model with a mass in service of 1725kg. Unexpectedly we are now looking at replacing the van with the Bailey Cartagena and are very limited to this one due to a number of factors, not least that it has the largest fixed bed compared with Swift. However, it has a MTPLM of 1717 so appreciate I am near the 100%. I am extremely experienced at towing at do several thousand miles in the continent each year but would welcome any other real life experience of such a match?

The reality is that I tow with wife and two kids that are  adult sizes now, as well as all the heavy luggage in the boot such as awning. The car is therefore several hundred kilos heavier than the MTPLM. What are the experiences of towing such a twin axle with these ratios, and in particular does anyone know if I may have any problem with nose weight as the Smax limit is 90kg. Many thanks in anticipation
