Hope you both enjoy your special days.
We went to a talk about RHS Gardens today, photos with music, it was extremely relaxing just watching all the lovely colours drifting past. We were warned not to fall asleep! I haven't been to all of the gardens so it was interesting, has anyone visited the new northern Bridgewater garden? It looked good.
I've got over my dental drama this week, thanks for your comments, I think, having read up about it some adrenaline from the jab had escaped into my system. Just an unfortunate event. The staff were very kind.
It was good to have a relaxing trip out today!

I'm using my Samsung tablet, as opposed to my Samsung phone, no issues. Isn't it odd? Don't scramble your grey cells I've given up trying to understand tech and this site quirks.

Just realised it's been quite a while since I last checked in. Been a busy few weeks, although mostly mundane stuff, and a couple of birthdays. Been trying to sort a caravan trip to Scotland, including Mull, in May but not use to planning longer trips, hopefully we're sorted now.🤞Even used the clubs new booking system earlier, took longer than the old system, but booking and deposit payment went smoothly.

I was surprised how much had been done (just from looking at the photos) I'll be interested to hear about it if you get there. We sometimes go down to Rosemoor in Devon, I expect Debsc knows it well. I like their winter/early spring plantings.
Sounds like a good trip planned Helen and I hope Robsail finds something too. We haven't got any plans and when I started looking at alternatives many of the holiday cottage places we like have doubled in price. We are travelling to see our son in the NE before Easter and will try to find some new stop off places.
Meanwhile OH has a cold and my sister, due to visit has one too so don't know how the weekend will pan out but hope everyone else enjoys theirs!

Waiting game today, literally. Waiting for BG engineer to arrive to service the boiler. When you book an appointment between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm it seems a reasonable time but when you have to wait!!! They will ring when I am next on the list.
Should be out choosing tiles for the bathroom revamp as the clock on that is ticking ever louder!

Yes Brue Rosemoor isn’t far from us and as you say nice to see the early snowdrops and spring flowers there, also nice in the summer to just sit and relax in a quiet corner. However, as we were at the caravan so often last year we barely got to go to Rosemoor, so I meant to cancel my DD for membership this year, forgot and the payment went out yesterday so we will have to try to visit more this year. I find the NT membership much better value. I did once have an allotment at Rosemoor while I did a years course there on vegetable growing. Years ago when it first opened lots of it was, to be honest, just quite a muddy mess with marked out strips where paths and beds etc would one day be, my dear Mum looked over it and said,’ one day this will all be beautiful’. Sadly she never lived to see that, but she was right. Her favourite flowers were roses and whenever I’m in their rose garden I always look at it for her and tell her that she was right and it is beautiful.
Happy birthday to Millie and Bakers, glad that you are getting away for a holiday Helen, and Robsail try to get a break away somewhere, it may not be easy but it might lift your spirits.
Grey here today but mild and the birds are singing away. The bulbs are all coming up in the garden and shoots on the honeysuckle and the clematis. Spring is here, for the moment anyway.

We had our annual service done last month... not by BG, but by the folk who put in the boiler. We had a 'deal' with the company when they installed the boiler...... 10 years annual 'free' servicing. They also give us a time window and he rings us when he's close...

We have snowdrops, too, coming up in our pots in the front garden. We are 'occasional' members of the NT and EH, DEBSC, but tend to alternate between the two. However, these dsys, we tend to go more for the EH as they are more dog friendly.

Hate having to decide on things like tiles! Try to leave it to OH, but she insists on involving me.
We just went with matt white, neither of us likes shiny tiles, so cannot go far wrong with matt white. We also chose fairly large tiles, 400x250, to minimise grout, which is what goes mouldy first.
Floor is mid grey with copper highlights, LVT. We do not like ceramic tiles on floors. We have some colour in the towels and bath mats.
In our en suite we have kept the custom built, by me, original floor and wall units, these have solid pine doors, and added a darker countertop in Iroko, so that offsets all the white. We revamped them by adding white side panels. Also kept the original custom made mirror and frame, which is made from Parana Pine. We have similar mirror frames in all 3 bathrooms.
The upstairs bathroom has the same tiles, but all new white fronted units, and same Iroko countertops, will use a coloured blind for contrast, and bright bath mats.

Bit of a wasted day thus far as BG engineer couldn't make until maybe 6.00pm today so we cancelled and rebooked for Tuesday as eldest son coming for dinner tonight.

Bit of a different day for us as we overslept!
By the time we were ready to go out we decided to abandon the proposed birdwatching as that is a car drive away so settled on a walk to the pub, but only for a coffee as still morning when we got there. It's about a mile away with inclines going and coming back. MiL joined us there having set out on her own walk. Quite a pleasant morning with a bit of sun every now and then. Back home for lunch.
Sorting out car insurance this afternoon and paying council for brown bin collection for forthcoming year. £32 per brown bin (x2 for us).
Robsail, best wishes. Can't give advice as haven't been in your situation but if it were me I think I'd stick to my own hobbies and arrange something around that. Whatever you do it will probably still feel strange.

BG are driving us mad at present. We have our boiler serviced around May, have done for some years now. Just before Christmas we started getting emails about arranging our boiler service, ignored these as we thought they’ve just got their wires crossed! Then the phone calls started (about 5 at least), ‘can they arrange a date for our boiler service’, OH said it’s not usually done until May - ‘oh well it’s within the time range’, anyway after a couple of these calls we made an appointment to shut them up mainly. Later the same day we had a call from an engineer who asked if we had a problem with the boiler, ‘no it’s fine’, he asked why had we made a service appointment as his records show ours is usually done in May!!!!!! 🤯😖🤬. He cancelled the appointment and all went quiet for a week, lo and behold we have now had a further 2 calls can we please make a service appointment! We have asked them to reset their records for May, what did we have today but another email to please make a boiler service appointment!!!! Glad we going to be away for a month, it’ll drive them mad.

Funny you should mention that. I thought our appointment was much earlier than normal and I booked as late as I could. The problem seems to be that the engineers are getting a mix of work to do on anyone day. If all the engineers had to do was to service boilers I imagine they could keep to a reasonable schedule. However if they are mixing repairs and servicing they have no idea how long individual jobs will take which has a knock on impact on the servicing side. Generally in the past BG has been pretty reliable but what happened today knocks the confidence a bit. We will have to see how Tuesday goes.

Heddlo we've had lots of letters from BG asking us to book a first service for our boiler (even though it's over three years old and was serviced last December!) I think BG have got all the records in a mess since they started their new web site which still hasn't updated our records. Hope you can open your front door when you return, expect a BG paper mountain.....

Post's re boiler servicing has reminded me I must phone our local gas man, ours is due a service too. BG don't sound very reliable 🤔
Had the caravan insurance renewal this week, Ouch!!! 😳😳 think I will have to do a bit of shopping around.
Thanks for the comments re our Scotland trip, I really don't know how some of you sort longer trips, are holidays are usually only a week and one site, so easy peasy. This one is only for 2 weeks and a few sites and I found it stressful 🤣🤣

I have been to the SEC today, where the caravan and MH show is on, not to look at vans though, just to drop off DD and the children.
She had promised to take Callum there, and he was not letting her forget! So we offered to drop them off to save having to park. Picked the children up from nursery and went straight there, DD had packed a picnic lunch.
Later, as a treat, they came home on the train, worn out.
Lots of things to look at apparently, but not many caravans with bunk beds, which was what she really wanted to see. No doubt we will get a full report next time we see Callum!

I think part of the fun of going away for a few weeks is the working out which sites to book and in what order, especially when trying to work round school holidays, Helen, although it can get a bit stressful at times.
OH was at the hairdressers today getting a trim before we head off on Sunday. Just an 8 nighter this time, but have booked two more sites for the following week. Then we intend another short trip before our first major one of the year, probably to Scotland, for a couple of months.

Planning and booking is, I suspect, harder for caravaners who perhaps need a greater degree of certainty as to where they will lay their head. Over the past four years, I haven't booked anywhere more than about a week ahead, most just the day before and continental trips not at all, just turning up.

We tend to book our short (3-4 night) breaks at the last minute, but our main summer holiday (often around 6 weeks), is booked well in advance. Also, our short breaks tend to be CAMC sites (with the very occasional C&CC site), but our main summer break will be a mixture of CAMC, commercial/private ans C&CC sites.
