Glad to hear that news,TG. Have a safe journey home, you'll be back just in time for the weather to pick up, having missed all the rain.

At least you haven't been sent to prison, as your confinement is self imposed.
Acts 2:44
Hope any test that you take prove negative, CY. Stay safe.

the rules are now crazy, 11 year old grand daughter tested positive so had to isolate as did her parents as they are not fully vaccinated however her younger 7 year old brother was allowed to go to school crazy or what, so your plans may be ok if the rules are the up in Scotland as down here.

Spent the afternoon and evening in A&E with our granddaughter, she had few ‘turns’ at college. Paramedics were just so lovely. After spending some time at the college with her we then all waited with her on a trolley in the hospital corridor for an hour. All the time they kept her, and my, spirits up with their joking. Nurses were great and late evening after stabilising her the Dr discharged her. As the cannula was being taken out she said to the nurse, ‘ you’ll be glad to get rid of me’, the nurse replied, ‘ oh no I wish they were all like you, we have had some awful shifts lately’, some people can get so difficult if they have to wait. As we left there were five trolleys, with paramedics, waiting in the corridor. Then a long queue at the door of A&E. I couldn’t do any of their jobs. You can see why they are worried about Covid overloading the hospitals, they are pretty bad now. Granddaughter now ok and resting at home.

I've been meaning to do a 'round robin' for years, but never seem to get around to do one.... Anyway, managed to post all the cards on Monday - just the odd handful to send locally...
Yesterday's concert, during the afternoon was for a socially distance, very Covid safe company near the M54, who decided to have their works Christmas do outside. We were frozen against we'd finished, but it all worked well. Tonight's concert is at a small place called Acton Trussell....

Good to hear Debbie. Our family wasn't quite so lucky when my Uncle was left on a trolley for seven hours, he didn't make a fuss either but he didn't receive treatment in time to save him. People's experiences are so different but as you say hospitals are certainly having to cope with a lot.
I'm glad to hear your grandaughter is ok.

When I had a blue light trip with it seems the start of my treat Ent for heart problems, I was moved from the emergency cardiac unit into the A and E dept when I was stablei as they had need of the bed again
I was then waiting for a consultant to give permission to release me from about 1030 until turned 1800 that day sat in a cubicle ,looking down the towards the entrance to the AandE and there were Six or seven patients on trolleys some with screens round all with ambulance personel in attendance
And I was not allowed to come out of the cubicle to go home until seen by a consultant
and when eventually I was released they sent me home in a taxi on the NHS account

Certainly agree about NHS staff. Things are different now, but 2 or 3 years back I regularly used to overnight in a chair in ‘majors’ or ‘minors’ A&E wards following one of Mum’s many falls cutting her head or breaking her wrist etc. Without exception the paramedics and nursing staff were completely marvellous despite having to cope with all the problems we’re now very familiar with like trolleys in corridors etc. I guess you wouldn’t be allowed in to sit with your relative now? If so, must be very stressful for staff dealing with dementia patients as just one example of additional strain.

Same here SB. Mum had a fall last week while we were away. Needed an X-ray, whole thing took less than three hours, and staff were very good. Thankfully all ok. You live on a knife edge every day with someone who has dementia.
Sadly our NHS was under resourced prior to C19, so this has been a real nightmare for all concerned, despite more being thrown at it. Relies greatly upon vast majority doing what they can to stay as safe and well as possible, self medicating where practical to keep vital services there for those who desperately need urgent and emergency care. I know one of my loved one’s is going to need an ICU bed after Xmas. Just praying there will be one available.

In my experience there’s a big difference in England between primary care services and hospital services. The former can be extremely poor and is becoming more so. The 111 service is largely a waste of time. But if you can survive all of that and get yourself into hospital, the prospects for your care are good. I can understand why so many people go straight to A&E.

DD has heard back from nursery........staff member is positive but as all staff wear masks, are fully vaccinated, and are socially distanced at all times, the nursery can continue to operate unless they hear anything from Track & Trace.
SIL is testing negative meantime after the meal out, so Christmas is safe......meantime.
We are being asked to limit socialising to 3 households now, so not sure about the little gathering on the 23rd.

With the visits to hospitals both I and OH have had it seems one of the big problems in this country is with the inability to get to see your local GP , we seem to have got into the situation that the local AandE or Urgent Care Centres are First on the list for any ailments

Strange how different units of a hospital work together.
On Monday I was due to play taxi for a neighbour who had an early morning appointment for a hernia op. He used a regular taxi to get there but his wife was due to call me when he was released. At three p.m. she rang them to ask the state of play but they said ' No release until he has had a wee ' . Half an hour later came the call -- releasing him now ~ so off we went.
Took something in excess of an hour parked and waiting until he appeared through the glass doors. Apparently the system now is -- patient is firstly released from the ward with correct paperwork but THEN he needed to be released from the Hospital as well, with more paperwork { I never did find out if it was the same } -- very confusing & worrying for his good lady. Not for me tho' I was just listening to Classic FM !!
Have to admit it felt very odd sitting there and driving along all of us fully masked in the Ducato, but at least the little covid19 problem from Saturday's wedding did mean I was fully tested and reported !!
Hey Ho, please Take care, take lots of soap with the water and open a window or six
David, DSB :-- I seem to recall it being called Actone or some such when I was a lad

Tesco home shopping delivery today. Generally any substitutions they put in are fairly sensible. However, I can only assume the picker was having a laugh. Requested Hawes traditional Wensleydale, substitute Mexicana Vegan jalapeño and chilli peppers.😂 If it had just been a standard vegan cheese I might have given it a go, but I don’t do chilli peppers any more, so rejected it.

I would agree with that JV, getting a GPs appointment before Covid was hard enough in some places, now it's impossible.
We are blessed with a good GP practice but I know they are struggling, still doing telephone calls first then if needed you go in to have face to face appointment.
Lots of the younger families in the village (new comers) are critical of the system they feel they should be able to just walk in and see a Dr whenever they think they need one.
We are also fortunate that we have a local pharmacy in the village that works with the surgery. Excellent service from them, its a small place so only 1 in at a time just now but its always busy.
For the 'oldies' in the village its fantastic as the GPS know them. The oldies get a bit short with the young ones at times with all their demands and complaints reminding them, that at one time we used to have to travel 8 miles into town to see a Dr or pharmacy.
Our hospital in Perth was in jeopardy a few years ago but we all managed to save it and now they are investing millions in a new wing which will secure its place as a part of the Tayside teaching hospitals.
The A&E isn't big but you always get seen and with a smiling face and kind words.

Dull day today but that's OK as we had paperwork to sort out and get printed off.
Suitcase to pack and the storage box we leave here to pack up again. Great to have that as we can now come out with less luggage and its cheaper to store a box than pay for a suitcase.
We will have to call in to Tescos on our way home from the airport for food. I know we are supposed to go into isolation until the results of our day two test but we need fresh supplies so what else can we do. Thankfully it will be late in the evening so it won't be busy.
We've had a message to say the tests have been despatched so should be at home when we get back. Do them and return them on Friday, with a bit of luck by Monday we should be released from isolation.
The resort has been much quieter this week with many empty apartments, we asked if we could stay on a bit longer tomorrow as our flight is not till the afternoon.
No problem no one is coming into the apartment take as long as you like

Just this afternoon OH and I received texts from our GP surgery advising they are doing extended hours for covid booster jabs ,and also that our local urgent care centre would from 2nd Jan be closed overnight from 2200 -0600 owing to lack of use overnights

I may have posted before if you have need of ringing, 111if they think you need to see a doctor or go to an A and E or an Urgent Care Centre ,they will arrange appointments as they have dedicated slots at all GPs and A&E +plus Urgent Care Centres, as I have been told by 111call Centre person

Sigh!......things are possibly not going too well now.
DD took Callum and Nathan to see Santa today and came here for lunch afterwards. Just after she arrived she had a call from her husband.......he had been sent home from school as he had been "pinged".
No info on why, but seems they have a student teacher in the school who has had a positive PCR test, so could be that. He reckons however that he has not been in close contact with said student, so it could be from the ill advised restaurant visit on Saturday, or some entirely different encounter.
Anyway, he had a test at 13,30 today and will be confined to the bedroom until results arrive. Fortunately he is feeling fine.
We have expressed our feelings that, whatever the outcome, he should stop going out unnecessarily at present, and think how disappointed everyone will be should Christmas have to be cancelled.

Not always. I saw one, obviously a spoof, that referred to various offspring and their ASBO's, curfew tags, banning ordersetc. It was hilarious and far more entertaining than a real one.

There are many opinions on the whole COVID situation and I wouldn’t say anyone is right or wrong. What I will say is that we get on with our lives and honestly don’t worry about it. Our 2nd youngest son lives with us and he is very sociable he is out and about at pubs etc and works in a busy office but it doesn’t bother us he has a life to lead and we don’t want to stop that it may be a risk but it’s a risk we accept our daughter who doesn’t live with us is the same she socialises with friends regularly as does her OH but they are in our house nearly every day as is granddaughter who is at school. We get on with life and to be honest nothing really has changed for us no matter what the government say we will see family at Christmas the same as we did last year there comes a time when we have to get on with things be careful yes of course but we live our life as normal and have done from the start we are mid 60s and who knows how long we have so we enjoy life now in a way we want. COVID is of course real and we have had the vaccines etc but will live our own life in a way we feel safe
Anyhow on a lighter note all secs now up and electrician was here yesterday fitting new fuse box and lights at a very reasonable price so that should see us out hopefully as the last fuse box was 53 years old.
