#XploreMore 2014 - Site 23 - Chapel Lane, Birmingham
Site 23 – Chapel Lane, Birmingham
Chapel Lane is another well-located Caravan Club site with the potential to visit many nearby places. The site is easily accessible from major motorways and gives easy access to many of the surrounding attractions: Cadbury World, Transport museum and NEC in Birmingham (13 miles away). Although it is close to the city, there is a rural feel and the entrance, passing by an old village chapel creates the feeling of entering a local village.
Chapel Lane is a large site accommodating 120 pitches with 2 toilet blocks and a small playground. The friendly wardens welcome you to the site and more than happy to help. The reception offers a few basic food and caravan related items but there is a farm shop providing a wider choice, 10 minutes walk away.
We had a short stay at Chapel Lane, of only one night therefore were not able to explore the area. We did manage to complete a specific challenge related to the site: visit a biodiversity site and enter the children’s drawing competition. The girls’ drawings reflected plants and animals that they had seen on the site.
Chapel Lane is listed as a biodiversity site; the wardens planted poppy seeds along a grassy track to commemorate the centenary of World War 1. One of the wardens told Amy about a giant mushroom that was growing on the site and directed her to go looking for it.
