travelling thro france,on route to spain in february,an overnight stop in an unfamiliar services near narbonne,I broke my own rule, which is dont stop over near an access on to the autoroute,as it allows thieves to get on and off at a cheap toll price.

As a consequence, the caravan door was opened by screwdriver, silently,i may add,he entered, gatherd somegoodies, took my car key,put them in  the car  and came back in ,fortunately the caravan door squeaked,it awoke my wife, she faced him in the doorway, screamed at him,he,and his partner ran off towards a small car in the car park, incidentally, they werent speaking french, this was all at 1.30am.the gendarme were called by emergency call, they said the would be out at 8.00am.I thought this to be not very helpful,so proceeded on our way to spain.

As you can imagine,a horrible experience, but at least we are both in one piece.

Food for thought.
