Matching car to Caravan
Just a warning on matching when usinf a company called Towsafe.co.uk.
We have just started caravanning and we wanted to be quite sure that we had a safe outfit, so we used a company called Towsafe.co.uk entered all our details of our 1.6 Roomster 105se and those of our caravan Elddis 304. We knew the noseweight of the Car was only 50 kgs but there is a lot of other information required so we paid and got our report within minutes! Everything looked fine including the noseweight of the car which they said was 75kg.
I was very happy with this as it was better than expected, I asked them where they got this noseweight data and they said it was on the database from the manufacturer. I checked my Skoda manual and then I called Skoda direct and they told me the noseweight limit is 50kgs and 75kgs would be a dangerous loading.
I went back to Towsafe who said they would investigate. Thats when I joined the Caravan club. The clubs matching service is great and had the correct nose weight for our car.
I feel that people should be warned about this company. Despite calling me and telling me they had been wrong they refused to refund me, but the most serious issue is that the database they use is erroneus and probably dangeroulsy so.
Be warned and don't use them.
