We had a lovely 3 night stay at the Marina with our friends. Unfortunately we had been double booked ,a computer error we were told. to accommodate us they sited us behind the 5 other vans on site. However they did not have enough keys and gate passes to go round and asked our friends if we would share with them. This was fine except the on site toilet block is locked at 5 pm so we did grumble about this as we thought it was not a hard job to cut extra keys. To get round this problem the management posted a notice on the toilet saying they would be left open. Next we thought we should check our gate pass as we were going out later that night, and found it to be useless, so back we went to reception and told them wereupon a gentleman rummaged in a drawer, found a Visitors pass  and strode to the gates with me and my friend in hot pursuit, to check the original pass and check the new one, which did work. Finally on our last day, which was a Bank holiday, all the other vans left leaving us alone on the site,to find all of a sudden the site being used as a car park by patrons of the nearby cafe and shop and the marina. My husband did complain about this at reception. Following this the owner came to us, saying how busy they had been and also mentioned we had done nothing but complain since we arrived! However he was in the process of printing some posters to place on the entrance to the CL to stop the cars. This he did and also verbally asked some people to leave, plus he apologised several times to us re the car parking. We hope our comments/complaints have been constructive to York Marina, we are not in the habit of complaining, in fact it is the first time.
