Our Family Holiday Touring in Europe - Part Two
The drive from Liepvre to Lake Maggiore in north-eastern Italy was a long one. And those Swiss mountain passes were an eye-opener. The scenery was out of this world - mile after mile of turquoise lake and towering peak. We've promised ourselves a holiday in Switzerland one day (it may have to wait a while).
Driving the Bailey required masses of concentration as the roads twisted and turned and I found it pretty exhausting. Nothing had prepared me for the final approach to Camping Conca D'Oro along the side of Maggiore though, as one crazy Italian scooter driver after another gambled life and limb trying to overtake me on the (slightly) straighter stretches of road. I had to keep an eye on them as well as the vertical cliff faces to my right (which occasionally arched over perilously close to the top of the motorhome.
But after a couple of wrong turns near the end we arrived safe and sound.
Conca D'oro is a superb, clean site with a private beach. It's REALLY hot - there was a huge thunderstorm over the lake last night.
Anyway, all's well and we've still got a couple of days left here to unwind. Bye for now!
