Britain or Abroad.

This year for various reasons not necessary to the tale, our Spring/early Summer trip needed to be in Britain rather than our normal venue of Europe. When touring abroad we never book sites in advance in May or June as we have had very few problems finding ACSI card sites with room. Having had difficulty getting on sites in Britain at the weekend particularly, I decided to pre book most of the Club Sites we would visit. This established a quite rigid timetable which meant us staying in areas regardless of the weather and moving on when we still had things to explore in the area. We visited a variety of sites, much Wenlock with no facilities, Ludlow with the whole range, Crossways with plentiful wildlife, Tredegar House with surprisingly good cycling possibilities and a Camping in the Forest site in the New Forest. Overall the cost was higher than touring abroad (in 2014 we had 3 weeks in Brittany with French friends and the cost per night was 6 euros!). The sites were probably better with better facilities (except for motorhome emptying points which always involve lifting a hefty grate cover rather than positioning over a grid) And for once, the weather was similar to abroad, sunny enough to sit out and send us home with tans.
