The North Yorkshire Dales are premdoninantly made from Limestone rock, and lime soil and peat soil.

The main lake in North Yorkshire is Semerwater, with the main rivers in Yorkshire being:

- Ure
- Swale
- Nidd
- Wharfe
- Ribble
- Cover
