Our first caravanning adventure

My wife and I decided after a lifetime of working hard that we would take early retirement at the end of last year. We wanted to enjoy the freedom to do what we liked when we liked and also to fulfil a many times considered but never realised and buy a Caravan. The first thing we did was to join the CC and glean as much information as we could about MTPLM, 85% etc etc.

We finally bit the bullet and purchased our first caravan, a Bailey GT65 Genoa. We had agreed with the dealer that we would collect the caravan on the return journey from visiting friends in Devon. We arrived at the dealership in what can only be described as “Biblical rain”, however, the dealer wasn’t to be put off and duly completed the handover (my wife and I were now seriously beginning to question our decision to enter the ranks of the caravanning fraternity!). We drove the 20 miles to the Broadway CC site (still raining) and decided to put down the steadies and connect the power and wait until God had finished watering the Cotswolds.

The next day the sun was shining, the birds were singing and we realised that our decision to take the plunge and join the caravanning fraternity was the correct one. The Broadway CC site is fantastic, the reception staff could not have been more welcoming, the facilities were spotless, the wardens were friendly and helpful and the surrounding area was packed with things to do and places to visit.

Thanks to everyone at Broadway.

We will be back!

Jeremy & Odette

Thanks for sharing Jeremy and Odette and I'm so pleased you enjoyed Broadway and the sun came out for you in the end.

Your story reminds me of when my husband and I took my parents to pick up their new motorhome. As soon as we got there the heavens opened and it didn't stop raining until they were happily settled at Exebridge Caravan Club Site!

I look forward to reading about future trips in your new caravan and great pictues! Smile
