The delights of Hebden Bridge

On our way north for our 2 week tour of Scotland our first stop-off was at the Hebden Bridge site. It was a good environment in which to unwind and get into holiday mood and test out what we had forgotten to bring (no toilet block).  As ever the other visitors were friendly and we got a bit of historical background to the area (I think Vikings got into the act somewhere).

Anyway, wanting to stretch our legs we set off on foot down the hill to Mytholmroyd. Those hills are what I miss in the Midlands. Doing our best to keep straight on and cross the main road we got to the canal. It was a lovely walk along the tow path into Hebden Bridge as I hope you gather from the images.

I imagine the round trip was 5-6 miles with part of the longest continual climb in the country on the return journey, so a the cup of tea was well earned. We count our blessings as we had good weather for all but the last day of our trip to John O'Groats and back! You may yet be subjected to other photographic snippets if posting this first report goes well.

We stayed at this site overnight on our way back from the North East last summer - we found it to be an excellent site and would certainly use it again.  Liked the photos too.

Good post There is a lot going for Hebden Bridge as a small town as well as the local countryside - we go there quite regularly.
