Just back from the Hawes CC site and despite the almost non-stop rain it was a great break Friendly, welcoming staff and a very well kept site, as always. After 24 hours of unremitting rain we were giving the nearby river worried looks but the site is several feet above the danger point-although the pitch we were on during our last visit-at the bottom of the site-was under water this time! Lots to do in the area-including a 'Grand Day Out Gromit' at the Hawes cheese factory, home of the famous Wensleydale cheese. Good walking in the area and plenty for the history buffs to explore-Middleham for Richard III fans, Richmond and plenty more.
