York City Centre (£60 fine)
We went to York last weekend for a couple of days. We arrived near to the centre via the A1036. I had seen a yellow information sign stating that Lendal Bridge was closed to traffic during the day. I had no idea where Lendal Bridge was. At the junction with the A19 which is approx 100m from PeterGate Tower I turned left to continue following the A1036. As I turned left, along with other vehicles, I noticed a yellow sign again, not actually on the road I was going to travel on so I thought. I did not have time to see what it had written on it and took it to be something about the pedestrian precinct . I continued along the road with other vehicles which took me across the the river via a bridge. (Other vehicles including buses were on this part of the road).
This morning I have received a £60 ticket for being in a bus lane?? It seems for the Christmas period York council has decided to make this part of the A1036 a Bus and taxi lane.
Looking at Google maps once I had turned left at the A1036/A19 junction I was unable to do a 3 point turn or turn off anywhere. I had to continue on.
Note: the Rowntree site does have a notice up but I saw that after I arrived.
