Scotland Trip
Just returned from our early break in Scotland. 1400 miles and 24 overnights.
Weather was excellent most of the time, wonderful first week of May but cold at nights.Road surfaces are pretty awful. Fuel very expensive outside of supermarkets, worst seen-Diesel 157.9. Sites are almost empty. Early Bank holiday non existent.Very few CL and club sites spasmodic.Parking is cheap or free.Motorvans can park all day in Fort William in large bays for £1-50. Toilets everywhere. For over 55s you can use Forestry sites, affiliated to C & C club cheaper than club sites even as non member. Food for thought!.Wild camping is easy.Best fishing ,Gairloch or Wick. Walking, Rothimurchus,Cairgorm. Best sea food pier at Oban.Best views Rattigan opposit Morvich site.No midges this time of year.

I can certainly agree with the comment about Gairloch. We go there every year around early June - this will be our 35th consecutive year, and the trout fishing is magnifcent. Sea fishing is also available for those who want it. No CC site but Sands Hoilday
site is well run and the views are to die for. Will be there in 4 weeks time.0 -
Enjoyed your brief but informative account of your Scottish expedition. Your itinery (1400 miles and 24 overnights) is a good example of how to enjoy the flexibility of touring by motorcaravan. Your dramaic photo could be the front cover of an edition of
MMM! Can we have some more photos please?0 -
Yes great picture and I like the idea of "wild camping" :-)
