First Trip of the Year
Every year we like to take a short trip as soon as the annual servicing has been completed. This year we decided to visit Wincanton and to stay of the Caravan Club Racecourse site.
This was our first visit and it certainly will not be our last. The site and wardens could not have been better and when I inadvertently tripped the power supply, it was the warden who thankfully came to our assistance and found a second, hidden, trip-switch inside the van. Do take the CC advice when planning your trip to this site, you really do not want to take your caravan through Wincanton. We followed the written route and had no trouble at all.
We had decided to visit Stourhead and thankfully the weather was kind and we enjoyed a wonderful day amidst so much natural beauty and I can happily recommend this wonderful National Trust site.
Our second full day was a Sunday and we decided to get some exercise by climbing King Alfred’s Tower. What a glorious folly and what a splendid view after we had climbed to more than 200 steps – phew! After a well earned cup of tea, we packed up and returned home to Hampshire.
We thoroughly enjoyed our brief sojourn in Somerset and are already looking forward to a repeat visit.
