E-book written in Sprite Musketeer
Do you remember the Golden Age of Independent Television? My own memories of life as a television reporter in the 1970's and early 80's inspired my new e-book "Men from the Adverts Telly," much of it written in Caravan Club sites in the Welsh countryside.
Using old-fashioned pen and paper, I scribbled away in our elderly Sprite Musketeer at Brynich, Coed Y Llwyn, Shawsmead and Pandy. I'd never written a book before, despite 42 years in journalism, including 34 years at HTV, formerly Harlech Television. I used the sites' peace and quiet to return, in my head, to a time of greedy bosses, bolshie unions, hell-raising hacks and grasping politicians.
I remembered the days when an ITV franchise really was a licence to print money. We had millionaire owners, stroppy shop stewards and even a cleaner who saved the hardest toilet paper for the rear of the Chief Executive! While story after story whirled around in my head, my wife Jennifer busied herself reading or watching TV, happy at having escaped from our five boisterous grandchildren.
I wonder if other Club members will enjoy reading in their caravans a book that I wrote in mine? Anyone interested can visit my website at http://sg.sg/wOw6ok
