Postcard from l’Hérault
We’re camped under the trees, in the rain and mud, on a rural campsite near Bagnols sur le Ceze. We’ve left the sun and seaside behind us and we’re on our way to the Alps, and our ‘petits fils’, for Easter. After we stopped overnight near Collioure, and then visited RAF chums, Bruce & Ealine, for coffee and gossip.
We then made a rendezvous with motorhoming chums, Jeanne & Graham, at Marsellian Plage – 90 miles up the coast. We first met J&G in Italy last year, and again by chance in Croatia. The campsite, La Créole, was a little gem with direct access to the beach and, across the road, ‘le Cave de Languedoc’ ( a wine shop) selling local wine on draft (bring your own plastic bottle/ circa 1Euro/litre).
We had a great time together swapping stories: we also met Ken & Daphne whom J & G had met on their previous site. The weather broke yesterday afternoon and so we all took tea and home-made fruit cake ( we’re British you know!) in Ken & Daphne’s ‘van. Here’s a photo.
Tomorrow we are going another 100 miles except that we’re on the wrong side of the Rhone; however, we expect to make an unopposed crossing ( that’s military talk).
