Speed Awareness Courses

Shane Barratt made an interesting remark in his ‘Changing Pitch’ article in the April edition of the magazine regarding speed awareness courses not being offered to young drivers.

The statistics provided by insurance companies and motoring organisation reveal young drivers are significantly more likely to be involved with speed related accidents.

With this fact in mind, young drivers must be the group that actually require awareness to speed related problems. Slapping the wrist of ‘older drivers’ for minor speed related problems, putting them on a course with fees to pay, is no doubt good for fund raising but does little to address the problems of bad driving by inexperienced young motorist!
