Farther and Son highland tour holiday
In July 2006 both Gavin (my son) and I decided to go away to-gether for three weeks to do fishing and golf up in the highlands of Scotland. The trip was planned leaving on the Monday 24th August 2006. My wife had reservations in that could we both get on in such confined quarters for that lenght of time.
Our first stop being Culloden Moor Carvan Club site just east of Inverness. Here we stayed 3 nights and visited our friend who lived in Iinverness (Jack, Matthew and Alison) as well as golfing and fishing.
The next part of the trip was to travel up to Loch Navar near to Altnaharra. We travelled up the A9 to Nover Toll and then took the B9176 upto Easter Fearn where we joined the A836. From here we travelled up to Bonar Bridge and onto Lairg. Leaving Lairg we continued up the A836 to Altnaharra where we turned of onto the B873 to stay 6 nights at the carvan club site on the banks of Loch Naver (see photo of loch and van).
During our stay up at Loch Navar we vistied Bettyhill, Durness, Tongue, Smoo cave (see photo) and travelled further round the west coast. We played golf at Durness's 9 hole golf course where, the wind was blowing a gail.
From Loch Navar we left traveling back down to Sheilbridge on the west coast of Scotland. We stayted here a total of 7 nights. From here we visted the Isle of Sky twice, once ourselves and once with our friends from inverness; Jack and Matthew who stayed in the caravan for a few days. Once again we played golf here and the wind again was blowing a gail. This was a great 3 weeks having good fun seeing the sites, playing golf and catching & eating fish. What more could you ask for!
The Photos below show some of the places we visted and stayed.
