Red Pennant 1978 to 2012
In 1978 while on holiday in France my Son was taken ill and was Hospitalized for two weeks Red Pennant came to the rescue the service was fantastic the claim was settled without question .
2012 My Motorhome Clutch Failed on The A75 in France once again the Red Pennant came to the rescue , however the French Garage could not obtain the replacement clutch for a left hand drive french built Renault Master 2005 . It took them 14 days to find the part and three hours to fit the replacement .Red Pennat provided a car from the same Garage ?
We were advised to by Red Pennat lady adviser to find a mobile home?no mention of that in the policy
We found alternative , with the club in mind we kept the claim to the minimim by takining a small Gite for the first 4 days total,175 Euros forgoing any claim for food as per insurance policy
if we had stayed in a Hotel we could have claimed 100 euros per night and £30 per day for food and drink
Then Red Pennant advised than their would be a delay,
the Gite closed for the season so we had to find hotels well below the allowance allowed re the Policy
This all happened in Septmeber 2012 guess who is dealing with the claim?
Preferential Admistration Services
6th Floor Central house
Clifton Road
They have demanded reciepts for everything from a bottle of water to a daily cup of coffee /Tea
In all of the Hotels we refused to take continental breakfast as it was over priced
7 Euros and 11euros each
Meals beverages and Hotel cost for the 14 days are well below those allowed under the POLICY
Have you tried get a meal in a French Hotel on a Sunday and Monday Evening no chance , We Had shop bought salad cheese and bread ,
Coffee and tea in local bars No reciepts issued cash payments
Preferental Services ,Contact with us has been nil ,The Claim is still not settled January 2013
How things have changed since 1978 when the club was a club for its members
My advice In the futore read the policy Take Red Pennant and claim everything you our intitled too under the Policy keep reciepts for everything , eat and drink and be merry and stay at the best hotel , make sure you spend your intitlement under the Insurance Policy as it has nothing to do with the C C Club its Business

I must add the the service I actualy recieved from Red Pennant when the clutch went was second to none
I was of the motorway and in a The renault Garage witin 25 min of breaking down
My Ferry crossing was altered by the Club for the return crossing
I was kept informed By the club about the delays with the
repair
My beef is with the Lost adjuster Company who are gaining a reputation for doing their job, may be to well . take the blinkers of, be reasonable before they damage the excellent reputation of the Red Pennent, a product we members trust 100%

I had a similar experience with Preferential Admistration Services when I had my wallet stolen in Rome in 2012. Initially they would not pay for a new driving license that was in the wallet and they demanded a reciept for the wallet which was given to me as a present many years before which was an impossible demand. I did provide proof of purchase for a modest replacement (under £20) but that was not good enough. It was only when Bill Smith from the Club got involved that there was a change of mind and I eventually got reimbursed for the two items. I can understand that there has to be some guardianship of Club spending but disputes over such small issues don't help or enhance the otherwise good name of Red Pennant.
