Toll charges for the Millau Viaduct.
We have just returned from a two week trip to Southern Spain, driving from Calais down through France over the Millau Viaduct. We have done this return trip twice and each time the toll charge has been Class 3 10.10 euros for our twin wheel Autotrail Commanche.
On reaching the a manual toll booth we were told the charge would be 31 + euros ( the charge for a twin wheel coach. She produced a leaflet showing the various charges and weight limits with 3m height restrictions. We had no option but to pay the 31+ euros and decided to go through the village on our return.
When we returned ther was thick mist on the tops and we were reluctant to go down through Millau and by sheer luck arrived at the credit card toll booth. To our relief and surprise the cost came up as 10.10 euros.
So please take note that camping cars over 3.5 tonnes and over 3m high are Class 3 .... the axles are not counted only on buses and heavy goods wagons.
Ask for a leaflet if challenged and insist you are a camping car. Also use the card toll in this case it seems machines are better trusted than humans.
