Warning- Caravan parking at Moto Services,Bridgwater,Somerset
Earlier this year,I called in this serviice station, and reversed in to the only free caravan bay. I damaged the rear panel of my caravan by making contact with a bollard ,which was just behind the kerb at the rear centre of the bay.As allthe othe bays were occupied the bollards were not visible and by the time my caravan had entered the bay it obscured the bollard.
The main reason that i made contact with the bollard is that my car & caravan is 39ft long & the bays are only about 34ft. long!!!
All the otherbays were occupied only by notor homes or ccommercial vans.
The only other caravan being towed was parked in one of the coach parking bays, which was long enough to take the full length of the outfit.

I'm amazed all the other bays weren't taken by wagons or cars. ! Every time we pull into services we seem to struggle to find a space because of daft car drivers or wagons. wish we could have lovely 'aires' like there is in france. even layby's are end to
end lorries when you are desperate to stop !0 -
When towing you should always know at all times the lenth of your outfit, common sence tells you if you can fit in a bay or not! well done for reversing though and not have to use a caravan mover like most others.
Write your comments here...I DO know the length of my outfit!!! I have caravanned since 1976, & this is the first time that I have managed to have a problem reversing!! I have almost always reversed into pitches at sites & where I store my caravan (which
is a close fit between other caravans. When a parking area is marked for CARVANS it should be able to take ALL outfits. If I had not been watching the position of the rear of my caravan,as well as the rest of my outfit, as it got close to the end of the parking
bay, considerable damge would have occurred. This is the only service station that I have used where bollards have been put at the rear of any bay where it is necessary to reverse.0
