It's Saturday - our last day beside beautiful Lake Maggiore. We've been spending our days swimming in the lake, playing games and taking photographs.

In the mornings my younger two have been going to 'animation' club - and we now have a stack of artistic creations to take home with us. Combined with dancing, tug of war and face painting, they've been having a great time. They've made friends with some German girls and although none of them understands a word the others are saying, they're getting along well!

Each evening we've wandered up to the bar/restaurant to watch various entertainers - last night there was a terrific guitarist playing popular hits. Walking back, people are sitting in their awnings (we haven't got one - lesson 3: we need one!) chatting or playing board games by torch or candlelight - I've only seen one TV! Everyone nods or says "Guten Abend", "Buena serra" and my youngest has been amusing them by shouting "Morning!" in return.

I hope I'm not going all soft but the site seems to me to be a little snapshot of how the world should be...

Off to Annecy in France tomorrow as we head slowly home. Miles travelled so far: 728.6. Petrol money spent to date: lost count!
