Last year we holidayed in June in the most idylic setting ever on the shores of Lake Trasemeno, near the town of Castigliano del Mar.  It was probably one of the most beautiful places we have visited in 20 years of caravanning abroad.  The only down side was the mosquitoes.  I never have a problem with them but here is a different story.  No kidding, one on the back of my leg blistered to the size of a golf ball.  I couldn't walk for the pain.  My friend had 5 blisters on the back of her thigh she couldn't sit down??

We are thinking of Lake Balyton next year but are worried if it could have the same problem.  If anyone can give us advice on this problem please do.  We tried insect repellent, Vit B6 etc etc.  No good against the italian midges.  Apparently shallow lakes can have this problem.

Still we're looking forward to our September visit to Millau then on to Blanes in September.  Can't wait.  Anyone got any views on these places.

Happy holidays.

    HI Sue,

When I first went to Florida years ago, we spent the last week on the fabulous Sanibel Island. We were right on the beach and as honeymooners decided to have a glass or six of champagne on the beach. We actually managed one glass due to swarme of Mozzies.
The locals recommended Skin so Soft an Avon moisturizer, then a cream now a spray on oil. My partner is an Avon rep amongst other things and it is still used to repel Mozzies. I am not tring to promote the produt but you might want to give it a try.
