In 2011 we organised a rally in England and Scotland with 27 units for the NCC which lasted 5 weeks. We made a round trip. In England we stayed one night at the first and last campsite in Kielder and Appelby in Westmoreland. We stayed three nights on each of the campsites in Scotland visiting Edinburgh, Blair Atholl, Inverness, Durness, John O’Groats, Ullapool, Skye, Resipole, Oban, Carradale and Ayr.

In Inverness we met up with Helen en Lex McCall of the Highland Region. We had met them the year before when we were preparing our rally on their rally “Red Sails in the Sunset”. It was good to see them again and we would like to thank them for their help and kindness when one of members had to go into hospital and unfortunately return home.

In Carradale we stayed at the Caravan Club site and would again like to thank Colin Burgess, owners. He was a great help and put us in contact with Anne Curry of Kilbrannan Catering who organized a BBQ for us. He also got the local paper and internet to come along and take photo’s and films which were published in the paper and shown on their internetsite.

In Ayr we stayed at Craigie Gardens Club Site. The wardens there were also more than helpful. They got in touch with the hotel by the race course, for us,  and we were able to arrange a fantastic meal for our group. During the meal the “heavens opened” and it poured down with rain. The wardens phoned the hotel to inform us that one of our units was standing in water and would the owner please return to the campsite. On arrival they were not allowed to do anything as several people were moving their caravan to a dryer pitch and then their caravan and car were hosed down to get rid of the mud. This was a wonderful service given by the team in Craigie and well worth a mention and  special thank you from us all.

This was the fifth rally that we organized through Scotland and if it will be the last we don’t know but the co-operation and help of the Club wardens were very much appreciated.

We hope to be able to organise this rally again in the near future,

Rob and Keyna Beijer
