Scottish Themed Rally in the Midlands
Nether Whitacre - Scottish Themed Weekend Rally (A taste of what can happen on a Centre Rally)
At last years stewards meet we volunteered to run a rally at a local
village hall, (having already taken on several rallies) as no one appeared
to be want to take on this weekend. As the date of the rally was close
to Burn's night, a Scottish Theme seemed appropriate.
Friday morning saw us and our co-stewards setting up the site and the
first vans started arriving at 1pm. Friday evening we had use of the
Village Hall, so we provided Tea, Coffee and biscuits. This was
followed, for a bit of fun, by a quiz in two parts, translate the
Scottish phrase and then general knowledge, with some background music
to finish the evening.
Saturday, we left the ralliers free to explore the local area and our
Chairman organised an easy walk round the local countryside. Saturday
evening we had some tables set out in the hall with Scottish flags and
decorations. We started the evening with a few ceilidh dances provided
by our centre DJ ( we are very lucky to have a DJ) followed by music from
some well known Scottish bands. One of our Past Chairman (who is Scottish)
had kindly brought a proper haggis back from Scotland, so this provided
the centre piece of "A Taste of Scotland" selection of nibbles at the
interval. The evening concluded with more merriment and dancing,
including an special performance by those in kilts of "Donald where's
your trousers".
Sunday we closed the weekend with a cup of tea in the hall (Flag) and
handing out competition prizes.
All in all a very enjoyable weekend rally.
