An eventful trip
This is a story about our trip to the the National Rally.
We had planned to leave our site in Findon, Worthing at 16:00 but it took longer to get packed and ready to go than anticipated. So we finally got hitched up and ready at 18:30. Before leaving, we checked the electrics as usual only to find that the lights and indicators on the caravan were not working. This meant a call to Maydays Green Flag rescue service.
They arrived about half an hour later and discovered thhat the clips on the electric cable were missing. They fixed the problem and got the lights working so that we were finally able to depart from our site at 19:30.
Our plan was to travel overninght using the motorway services on the way to help break the journey.
The weather was magnificent and we had a pleasant journey up the A24 in the setting sun. We joined the M25 near Leather head and proceeded to the Cobham services where we had our first stop. By the time we left there it was 22:00 and getting dark.
The next stop was at the Reading Services. Although the caravan park there was full of lorries, we managed to find a tight space to squeeze into; a difficult task bearing in mind the size of our outfit.
We are now at Membury Services and it's 02:15 a.m. Our two hours will be over by 03:15 a.m. when we'll be heading towards the M5 junction at Bristol and then on to the M6 and A5 to Weston park where we plan to arrive at approximately 08:00 a.m.
