Club policy on campsite pitches

I always use the online booking system for caravan club sites and put my outfit details and pitch requirements onto the system and then book and make the assumption that what I book is what I get. This does not seem to me to be unreasonable and, in my view the pitch should be available when I arrive even though it may be later than anticipated.

I arrived last weekend at Cirencester Park around 4 pm to be told that there were only 2 pitches left.

We have a twin axle ccaravan and I wanted to use my awning and had booked the appropriate pitch.

One of the two pitches left was not accesible with my caravan and the only other pitch was only accesible with great difficulty and an awning could not be used as the pitch size was not sufficient.

We somehow managed to set up but I come to the point of the story as when looking around the site there were several small motorhomes parked in the middle of large pitches with probably 4 mtrs sare room on either side.

This is not a rant against motorhomes but rather a policy which would appear to not diferentiate between pitch types.

What is the point in booking a pitch with an awning for a large outfit if the pitches are used by vehicles which do not need the extra room.

I have been o several commecial sites and CC affiliated sites which allow pitches to be booked by type and which are reserved until you arrive.

The wardens were very understanding but would appear to be powerless to act.

All I want is what I book.

Quite simple.
