Domingo at Ribamar - two meanings!

Today we met the Ribamar site manager, Domingo. We had already been made to feel welcome upon our early arrival at the site but Domingo was extremely friendly and helpful. He mingled with his staff and anyone staying on the site with Spanish ease, chatting Spanish and broken English. He loves to please and proved to be of great help to us. Our stay at Ribamar was for three nights and we wanted to fill our days by exploring the surrounding area. The location of the site meant that buses and trains weren't easy to catch, particularly since one of the days was a bank holiday so little would be running. Cycling and walking were definitely on the cards in order to access the local town and appreciate the national park but to explore further afield meant heading out in the motorhome. Domingo recommended visiting a market in the nearby village of Benlloch, where stall holders would be selling local produce and then heading on to Benicarlo for Las Fallas, a smaller version of the well-known Fire Festival held in Valencia. We did both of these (see separate blog posts by the girls).

Sunday or "Domingo" was our last full day at Ribamar. We headed out on two wheels rather than four and cycled along the dusty, gravel road to Alcossembre, the nearby town. Even though it was a Sunday and the day after the bank holiday people were milling around the seafront cafes and port. We stocked up in the local supermarket and decided to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch Spanish style! We found a little restaurant away from the seafront and sat in the sun, eating a selection of tapas and drinking beer - it was delicious! Rather than return via the road again we ventured along the coastal path - definitely a more challenging and fun way to get back with gorgeous views of the sea.

Our short time here is coming to an end and we will be sad to leave. We've loved the location, site and its manager!
