French travel nightmare
Returning from France 1st of October 2015 with our car and caravan heading for an early morning ferry from Calais it was still dark, with no motorway lighting (saving energy), when we encountered the most frightening event of our lives, without exaggeration we came to a sudden standstill hundreds of marauding male migrant youths blocking the motorway approach road about a miles from the ferry terminal
We both of thought we had seen our last moments as enraged wild young males surrounded us and other road users banging on the car windows and roofs trying to open our car and caravan doors and windows, many wagons having stopped with people at the front while others forced entry at the rear and sides, all together an unbelievable early morning terrifying experience.
We crawled slowly forward through these mobs of raging males (no not weeping parents and children) yobs that no right minded person would wish to see enter the UK. We crept slowly forward for what seemed for ever half expecting our windows to cave in when eventually a handful of French policemen arrived totally overwhelmed but still trying clear the away for us, at risk themselves.
On our eventual arrival at the ferry port totally, traumatised in disbelief at what had just happened we queued with others for what seemed an age at the at the one open UK border control check in. on our eventual arrival at the check in booth we were told that what we had experienced was the normal occurrence. And to our amazement we could see a crowd of presumably detained stowaways boarding awaiting buses to be returned to try again the next day.
It is unbelievable that ferry travellers are expected to run this terrifying gauntlet, with French Police and Security unwilling or powerless to prevent this happening.
At the moment our 18 years of twice a year caravan holidays to France are on hold.
Please Note
No Problem leaving UK just getting back home I understand that the ports
are now secure its just getting to the ports safely.
