Scottish Vandals!
I was reading a thread this week about the problems with Midges that can be experienced on the West coast of Scotland from the end of may onwards.
That issue reminded me of a greater problem that I faced at the very beautiful site at Bunree Nr Ben Nevis. We arrived there late one afternoon and busied ourselves getting sorted out with our kit and settling down for a nice G&T.
I had noticed that a lot of cars had their door mirrors covered by plastic bags but really didnt think too much about it and dismissed the issue as probably door mirror to door mirror "kissing" in the narrow roads.
As a keen bird watcher I was impressed by the numbers of very large Hooded Crows that were hopping about enthusiastically picking up any dropped food.
We retired to bed early becasue of the long tow we had experienced but at about 6AM I was awakened by a very lod and insistant knocking on metal that I heard. I jumped out of bed thinking that my car was being attacked but quickly realised that it was one of the hooded crows picking a fight with my neighbours Chrome hub caps.
But another of the blighters was perched on my drivers door mirror atacking the upside down crow that he could see in the mirror glass. So thats what all the bags were for!
Unfortunatly several other members mirrors were broken that morning and plastic bags had become very much sort after.
I have never come across that behaviour before, - at least not so agressively!
