The Chatsworth Pheasant

We recently had a long weekend at the Chatsworth Caravan Club site with our two little girls aged three and seven.  We arrived at the site and booked in with the very friendly staff before going to find a pitch.  After reversing onto the pitch and unhitching, the two girls were released to run around as usual whilst I set everything up.  There is quite a lot of wildlife in and around the site at Chatsworth and our two girls were soon joined by a group of ducks who followed them around looking to be fed.  Keeping our eyes on them, my wife and I noticed that a few other people were also watching and, no doubt, thinking what a nice little scene it was with two, rather cute, young girls talking to a group of ducks.  As this was going on however, a large cock pheasant strolled across the site.  The two girls took one look at it and ran back to the caravan shouting (very loudly) "Daddy Daddy quick quick there's a pheasant - GET YOUR GUN".

Sounds like a sensible pheasant to me, keeping well away from danger!

Can recall last December in Chatsworth, we had 4 pheasants plus ducks around the caravan. These pheasants would stand on your shoe and peck your trousers to ensure that they had food.
