Europe travels

Hi all, we have just returned from an 1800 mile trip around Europe and thought some might like to hear how it went. We left our home in Derby on the 5th June towing our Ace Supreme Globestar. We travelled to Hull for the overnight ferry to Zeebrugge. The crossing was great and this gave us an early start next morning. After leaving the ferry we drove 317 miles to Les Portes d' Alace (J06) where we stayed three nights. The site was quiet with the nearest town being Saverne which was just a mile away. On the 9th we travelled 248 miles to Lugano in Switzerland (S10). This was a fabulous site although we arrived just 10 minutes before reception closed which I did not know about until we arrived. There for just one night ,we sat on the bank of the lake which was really beautiful. The next morning we were off again, this time just 121 miles to Fornella by Lake Garda in Italy. I'd heard rumours about the Italian roads and had concerns about the size of our van, but we were fine. The motorway part was very busy with trucks which made me sink down in my seat slightly but apart from that all was well. On arrival we discovered a fabulous site with access to two beaches on the lake. We sat in the bar area next to the lake- it doesn't get much better than that!

We stayed by Lake Garda for 6 nights, venturing out around the lake some days ,or simply soaking up the sun on others. On the 15 June we left Fornella and drove 300 miles to Les Pecheurs (C07) France. That day was very windy which made the driving more difficult. I cannot remember how many tunnels we drove through ,but admire the Italian road builders who have tunnelled through or bulit over just about everything! We stayed just two night at Les Pecheurs before moving again on the 18th to Le Domaine da la Yole, just 212 miles. This was a great site, certainly ready for young families when the schools break but fine for our stay. The nearest town Valeas- Plage is certainly worth a visit. After 3 nights, we moved to our final and favourite destination of Pavillion  Royal (C03) France on the bay of Biscay. This was our 3rd visit to this site which we never tire of as it gives direct access to the beach and Atlantic Ocean. After two nights we left site early to drive the 90 miles to the port of Bilbao. From there we sailed overnight to Portsmouth. A great crossing dropping us early in the morning on the 24th to drive up home.

What a fantastic trip we had!
