How to enjoy a trip close to home

As we have only had a caravan for a few months, we couldn't wait for a proper trip to try out our new toy, so we booked a site only 4 miles from home- Holme Pierre point in Nottingham. We were quite pleasantly surprised that even though we were only just outside the city of Nottingham, we could have been anywhere in the middle of the countryside. It's a great feeling being able to relax in this way. Holme Pierre point has hard standing and it's flat. Close by are the national water sports centre, white water rafting, Sky trail high ropes course, mini golf, Segway, crazy golf cycle hire, walks, and a cafe. it was. Means to do our first trip close to home so we could check that we had everything we needed so that if we had any kit missing we could easily fix it. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would recommend this site as a quick stopover for anyone travelling from one end of the country to the other and need a stopover, or for those wanting a city break in Nottingham. I have now already booked 4 holidays this year further afield and we can't wait to go exploring. Happiness is caravaning.

We quite often travel for less than an hour from home for weekends away. One of our favourites is the Hebden Bridge CC site which we can get to in aound 35 minutes. Lovely site, great location and no issues in travelling the short distance.

    Have a great 2015 touring

Glad you are enjoying your caravan. We often have weekends close to home mostly within an hours drive but it feels like you are miles from home and all the stress that goes with it
