Isabella Statesman awning - zips ah!

We have just bought our first caravan loving it. It came with the above awning and we are trying it out for the first time. Problem we have is fitting the side and front sections. We can't get hold of the people we bought the caravan from they have moved. It looks like it uses a double zip system. They are not fixed to the tent we have to thread them into place. No matter which way we put the zips it doesn't work. We have been at it for two full days now and I am about to start a bonfire. Please help cos seriousely once its up it will be great for us.
