Please select a valid inbound route

We're trying to price up a ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam using the Club search facility but it won't work!  It doesn't seem to be able to recognise the inbound journey selection on the drop down menu, even though it has a blue 'tick' beside the relevant choice.  All the other selection areas seem to work fine.  It's extremely frustrating.  Has anyone else had this problem?

i'm using an iPad running on Safari, if that makes any difference.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but this is still happening, despite over a year passing and a brand new website!  What on earth is going on?

And before anyone says it, yes, we could phone but I'd prefer to use the website that our fees are paying for.

You are right Hans. I thought it was a quirk with this I-pad which will never let me put in the homeward ferry route which I do want, but let's me put in one which I don't want and then allows me to correct it to the actual one. Are you on I- pad Safari too?

It works fine on a laptop - select outward journey, and the return self-selects the same journey in reverse.  Do you have an old laptop lurking somewhere, that you could use?  Hardly the point, I know, but it might get the job done (unlike the Caravan Club website designers!).

I usually find that the telephone works much more easily and usually more quickly when making ferry bookings through cc.

Got exactly what I needed for this coming summer including one of those very hard to get dog friendly cabins for each direction.

Yes, I'm on an iPad using Safari.  We're booking Newcastle to IJ so no alternative routes available to pick first then change.

No laptop that I can use, unfortunately, so we ended up booking with DFDS directly.

Mitsi, I understand what you mean about phoning, sometimes it's easier to talk to someone when booking but we were looking for the best price over a variety of days and cabin types so it could have been a long and tedious call!  I also resent having to resort to calling when we have what is meant to be a brand new website.  Why it still has these iPad hang-ups, we will never know!

Frankly I never use the internet to book foreign trips. You need to be sure of what you are booking and I find the clubs staff very good and helpful. Not sure why people want to book on line when the telephone works far better.

Have to agree with Wildwood - much prefer to talk to people for such bookings.

I agree with WanderingHans. I've had the exact same problem - cannot enter a return route on the CC web site.

Yes, you can call them, but it's nice to be able to juggle different days / routes / times to see what suits you best. This would be a long and difficult telephone call.

Maybe the best thing is to use the ferry / Tunnel web site, find the crossing that suits you best, then ring CC and see what their price is.

I've always found the CC to be cheaper on the Tunnel, but when I was looking for a one-way crossing (Portsmouth - St Malo) I was able to check the CC price (due to not requiring a return crossing) and they were about the same. So with the added problems of not then being able to deal directly with the ferry company, I would have booked direct.

Just picked up this thread and have the same problem when using ipad and Safari. That is, not being able to get the return route to apoear in the box so no results can be returned. Sometimes you can make it work by selecting a different return route then changing back to the one you really want. It's pretty old fashioned not to get this kind of problem solved by the club. Last time I booked with Euro tunnel direct for exactly this reason. Nowadays folks want to be able to book or get a price at anytime, online, not have to wait for office hours to get a quote.
