Weight restrictions on roads and bridges

Does anyone know the best way to check for weight restrictions on routes?
On our last trip out, we had to change plans due to being unable to access a village due to 3 ton weight limits on all access roads (We have a 3.5 ton Hymer).
This morning, I was checking a route on Streetview for our trip this weekend and came across another 3 ton limit on the road I wanted to take. Thankfully with a bit of Googling, it appears the bridge in question has since been replaced since the Streetview
car went past, and we'll be fine, but it did take me a good half hour to confirm for definite.
Would a truck sat nav help with this at all? Or is there a database somewhere that you can check? It's not really practical to check a whole route on Streetview, especially if the data can be 3 or 4 years old.
Thanks x
