Is this a 'Touring Club' only

Why do people say it's a touring club?  It's a caravan club for people to use their caravan (or motorhome) how they want to.  Is there something in the handbook that says we have to tour?

Some people stick to the same half a dozen sites because that is the maximum distance to make a trip viable, especially of it is only for a weekend.

I like the idea of touring, but until I am retired it's not an option.

I would actually get more use out of my caravan if it was on a sesonal pitch than anything else, currently limited to two weekends a month at best due to my shift pattern.  But a CC season pitch would not be any use to me due to the rules imposed.
