Weekend away or a holiday?
I was just wondering what other weekenders called their short trips away?
I used to say we were just away for the weekend, it was not a holiday. It was always confusing to me to use the club web site and go to the planning a holiday section to book my weekend break.
I have throghly enjoyed my weekends away on club sites, commercial sites, and CL's.
Now I have started rallying with a centre, and getting home late in a Sunday I felt like I had been away on a holiday.
Maybe this is because a rally is just so much more laid back than a club site. On the rally field people are much more aproachable. I met up with some friends (who I talked in to just trying a rally), made some new ones. Had a few socialable drinks.
Went to a food festival, which is very dangerous for me as I love my food. I did not have to leave the rally until the Sunday afternoon, so no racing around Sunday morning for me and I could enjoy my day, and got home very relaxed.
I wasn't forced to do anything. In fact I was reminded that I didn't have to join in with anything that had been arranged if I didn't want to.
I wasn't intruded on either. Yes people were very friendly, but never over bearing. Just a pleasent chat while going for water etc.
Contray to my friends belief, you do not have to join your local centre, you can join any, or even none to attend a rally, and you don't need to attend an interview to join a centre either. That last one did make me laugh all weekend.
So this new experience has changed my outlook to go away on holiday for a couple of days.
So what do you do.....???
Got for a weekend away? Or go on holiday?
