So that’s why Truma Ultraheat mains switch was hot

During a late winter trip I had noticed the mains switch on my Truma heater was warm to the touch when using it on 2kW.

For various reasons I have only just got round to looking at that.

What I have found is that the switch is rated at ONLY 5 AMPS!  (i.e. only 1.25kW)

No wonder it was getting warm on 2 kW!

This switch is not the original (which is rated at 10 amps) but a replacement installed by my Bailey Main Dealer at last service.

Looking at the invoice he has charged me for a 13amp switch. (i.e. suitable for 3kW)

Unfortunately it is not easy to check these things as the rating is embossed on the rear of the item.

Just a simple mistake on his part perhaps?

But wait....this new switch would have been supplied by the manufacturer fitted with a 5 amp fuse yet it now has a 10 amp one.

So my dealer has replaced a 5 amp fuse with a 10 amp one and put me and my family in danger of fire.

You can be sure I will be taking this up with the dealer at earliest opportunity.
