Truma Heater off Mains

When motorhoming in winter, is it possible/advisable to use the heater when you have not got mains electricity? Just to clarify ours is a gas powered heater, but I am thinking about the fans to distibute the heat.

We particularly like basic CLs with minimal services, which is fine in the summer, but I'm wondering if we will have to stick to sites with mains during the winter months.

We have twin 110 Ah Batteries and a 100W solar panel, but I guess the solar panel will not contribute much in a northern winter.
