Which are the best roasting bags to buy that will not flake off during the cooking process?  We bought some Morrisons own brand bags, but after we had finsihed cooking the chicken on opening the bag, it crumbled leaving the wife to pick most of the bits
of bag.

I've never used them.  What's the advantage of them?

Interesting.  I'd still have veggie pans, roast potatoe trays and gravy dishes to wash though.

I've seen the Maggie ones advertised but have you used them Rocky?  To be honest, they don't sound like my idea of a tasty roast dinner.

Jill, don't think-crisp skin on Chicken but think-moist meat infused with herbs & spices. . . .Plus the juices as gravy. I have at least one a week due to the ease of prep & timeHappy &
    they're  not expensive either.

Thanks Rocky and JVB.  Maybe, next time we're away in the caravan at the weekend we'll give them a whirl.

I've been using 'Baco' roasting bags for years, just pop in the chicken/beef/pork/lamb with any flavouring you fancy or nothing at all. No need to add fat/oil as the meat cooks in their own juices, as rockysays then use these to make the gravey. The Maggi/Colman
ones that you can get with flavourings are good for Chicken be it pieces or the whole chicken, we like PiriPiri, BBQ and sweet chilli flavours. we also like the BBQ one for doing ribs. There are ones for Fish but haven't tried them yet. It certainly saves
    on oven cleaningWink

I am sure they are not all the same but the Maggi  we tried was so salty it was absolutely vile and we  were so disappointed with the result we dare not try another flavour for fear of ruining the ingredients, A great pity as the idea is good and would suit
us particularly when on the move.

That surprises me AD, I've never used salt in my food, not a health thing, I just don't like it. I am very aware of salty foods but the Maggi's have never tasted overly salty to me. It may have been a 'wrong un'. I tried the S/Mkt own brand once & yes that
was salty, more than I'd like.

I've just bought some bags for veg to use in the microwave.  Very pleased with them so far.  Should save a bit of washing up in the van.

Apologies I should have bene more clear.  I am looking for the plain roasting bags where you can add your own ingredients and that will not crumble when you open them.

It makes cleaning up afterwards a lot easier especially if you have issues scrubbing pots and pans clean as they save a lot of mess.  Unfortunately with arthritis in the hands and wriist scrubbing pans clean is not really a pleasant option.

At home we have a dishwasher that cleans brilliantly but obviously cannot have one in the caravan.  LOL!

Sainsburys do their own range of roasting
    bags
. We've used them several times with various Schwartz herb and spice blends with great results. Keeps the oven clean and very little smell.

Baco, Tesco's sell them and most other supermarkets, there are 2 sizes normal and large which can accomodate a turkey. I've been using them for years haven't had one crumble yet. Smile

Edit, we have a dishwasher in the van, he's always there everytime we are away wouldn't be without himLaughing

We don't like turkey although we eat a lot of chicken.  Roasting bags for beef, pork and chicken are great as you end up with a clean oven.

We do have a Corningware dish in the caravan and this is easy to clean, but sometimes the roast is just that bit too big for the dish.

Another bonus is that the more methods we can find to keep the oven clean, the better.  Unfortunately nothing we cna do about the grill!  LOL!

We use them a lot & buy the type without herbs etc. from any local shops/supermarkets, they are widely available and we have not had any real problems with them. Some of our favourite meals are such as a pork loin joint or belly pork slow cooked in
the slow cooker. In the slow cooker we have to put a tiny skewer hole in the bag when it rises to keep the lid on, in the electric oven we have to make sure a shelf protects the bag from hitting the heating elements above.

We cook a lot of chicken, not full ones, in the oven in them and our favourite make are the supermarket own brand from Mercadona in Spain. They do 3 types aimed at Chicken & Pork, Lemon & Garlic Chicken and Fish. Unlike those Maggie ones theirs you
add the powders in the sachet to water/oil/wine etc. and roast it in the bag with the meat. We love them so much we bring boxes back from every trip to Spain and use them throughout the year. Benefits we find in the van are that it keeps the oven clean and
smells lower. The meat is generally very tender & cooking time reduced. Our friends use them to cook casseroles in the slow cooker which keeps the smells down & the bowl cleaner but getting the contents out of the bag seems to be a bit tricky. Regards, Roy

I would return the bags to the supermarket, they should not flake.
