The CC are offering Michelin atlases and maps at a discounted rate as a special offer.

However it is cheaper to buy exactly the same map off Amazon for £2 less and that is also with free postage.

Why is a CC member offer more expensive than a retail site?

It's the same with the OS maps. One buys them from the CC through Dash4iIt, with their normal discount but have to pay postage, if the order's under £10, when one can buy them with free postage direct from Dash4It.

Unfortunately Amazon undercuts everybody on many things. If you use Amazon then you have the choice of using them or trying to support the businesses that they are causing to struggle.

I hardly think that the CC needs supporting or is struggling?

The maps are sold through Dash4it not the CC.

However the CC are promoting it as an offer and on assumes offers to be good and offering the best value for money.

The businesses who offer discounts exist as all businesses do to make money and premumably they believe that discounts will encourage us to buy more and/or enable them to reach new customers.. The motive of
CC in allowing businesses to offer members discounts is presumably to make the overall membership package more attractive. Some of the offers will be worthwhile at any given point in time and others may not. For example I was buying a pair of gloves at Cotswold
last December and happened to remember while standing at the till that there was a 15% club discount. So I was about £3 better off and the discount didn't actually affect my buying choice. On the other hand around the same time I bought a Tyrepal. There was
a 20% CC discount but also a direct special offer from Tyrepal. So in that case the offer was not worth taking up.

So don't assume that taking up the offer will always be cheaper but make what you can of the offers but think carefully if you can get a better deal without them.
