Mayday recovery

Yesterday unfortunately our vehicle broke down and we had to be uplifted home as all garages closed.  No issues with recovery as they were on time and courteous.

Our dilemma is the nature of the fault and it requires a specialist with the correct diagnostic software equipment and know how.

The nearest local garage that we use is 12 miles away and we only use them for minor servicing.  The major servicing and repairs are done by a garage in Shrewsbury that specialises in Jeep repairs and we can trust them.  However they are nearly 50 miles
away although there is a Jeep  dealer less than 30 miles away.  We do NOT trust this dealership that is nearby and would not even take a pedal car to them.

Would Mayday uplift the vehicle to our preferred garage for repair which is nearly 50 miles away from our home.  We have the full Mayday package.  Thanks.

I wouldn't have thought so. I suggest you copy and paste your question and send it to Mayday for a written answer.

If not, would the Shrewsbury dealer collect on a low loader for a reasonable charge?

We may have to go down that route.

I should have added that as a person with mobility problems to get into the breakdown truck was a real challenge with wife pulling me from front and brakdown person pushing from behind.  Luckily we were only abour 6 miles from home as sitting on those very
    upright seats was very painful.

    Hi surfer,

Ring the club, when we broke down in October our car had to be towed to a auto gearbox specialist three days after being taken home, although this was only 10 miles away I was told it was all included under the original break down. Goodluck

The cover is to the nearest competant garage so you might have to give a good reason why you do not want to go to the one 30 miles away. I suspect the not trusting them is not good enough on its own.

    Really good fun isn't it......NOT !!

We had to do that twice last year, two days running, getting Vicki out of her chair and into the truck, but what else can you do ?

    You have my sympathy.

I  would  be  inclined  to  follow  the  advice  from  Mr  Route !

The  very  worst  they  can  say  is  "No"  !

And  you'll  be  no  worse  off  than  you  are  now.

    But  if  they  say  "Yes"  ,, ,, ,, ,, ,,

The garage AC is a well known national garage and there are forums littered with complaints about them.  I went to the vehicle yesterday afternoon and started it and very strangely all is well with it and no engine management light is operating.  May take
the chance and start driving towards the garage and hopefully if I am at least halfway when any issues occur, they cna tow the rest of the way.

As it took Mayday over 3 hours to arrive, how do we go about gte the compensation payment.  We were happy to wait an hour or so, but 3 hours was stretching it a bit!

Just write to them with the details of the callout. From what I have heard they are unlikely to quibble.
