my car had the 7 pin electrics and when we changed our van to a new pesuit we found that it had the 13 pin conector..... we purchased an adapter and all went well... i decided to price up to have the cars towbar electrics updraded to 13 pin and found prices
ranged between £150 to £300........thinking that was a bit expensive i found that the 13 pin socket was wired the same as the 7 pin socket........ after £5.79p for a 13 pin socket and a few minuets wireing up all was well........

We currently just use a plug in adapter to convert the 7pin on the car to 13pin... But we only have a single 7pin, so miss out on things like charging the leisure battery while towing (we've got a solar panel on the roof though!), and cooling the fridge
down. If we had twin 7pin on the car we could fairly easily rewire the socket to a 13pin... as it is, I am thinking of just replacing the 7pin with a new 13pin. Fortunately it looks a fairly simple plug and play job on our car... so just the cost of parts!

That is expensive. I paid £100 to have my 12N replaced with a 13 pin and its associated charging/fridge wiring .... and I thought that was on the pricey side.

Our current caravan has a thirteen pin plug but the car has twin plugs from the old one.  I intend using the convertor until the car is changed as there is no real problem with that system.

But OP has 12N on the car & 13 pin on the caravan .... no converter/adapter is going to power the fridge/charger
