Caravan insurance payout

Good afternoon all,

I've just had my touring caravan assessed by my insurance company (Devitt) and due to damage the decision has been to write-off the caravan. The price i have been offered appears to be fairly low to what i would have expected and I'm wondering if anyone
else has had a similar situation which they have then gone on to successfully contest the valuation.

The caravan is a '98 model (so not big money) and i appreciate the valuation book/guidence the insurers are at liberty to use, however, i simply cannot see how i would be able to afford a replacement with the amount offered as prices are a great deal higher.
